Imagine the experiences people during World War Two were going thru. That what the author Markus Zusak does with " the Book Thief". He gives you images on the world in those days. This book is historical fiction. The two main characters I would say is death and Liesel .
What I like about this book is how Zusak make his character realistic. One way he does this is with the narrator (death). In one of the chapters he describes death completely different then what you imagine he would be like. The characters in this book are 3d meaning they seem real and have personalities. For example Rosa Hubermann is a women that people fear her but in her heart she is a real lovable person and cares for her loved ones. The characters feeling change a lot thought out the story. One character is Liesel in the beginning she didn't care about Hitler but in the end she hate him so much. As you can see this is why I like this part of this book.
The setting of this book I think is really important because of the role it plays in the story. In the book Liesel foster dad hides a Jew in the basement. Imagine doing this when there all the capturing of Jews and many other people that we're send to concentration camps. Markus Zusak is a great write and makes a image in your head.
This book showed me some stuff. The first thing I learned is that not all Germans should be blamed for what the mentality of one man. Another thing that I learned is to look at people a different way. All in all I would recommended this book for adults or people that are interesting in historical fiction.
