My view of "The Book Thief"

Imagine living while World war 2 is going on and books are illegal. That's "The Book Thief" . You and many other people will be attracted to this one. Markus Zusak books are created for high-grade readers for the historical fiction , and the language he uses to make every event exciting.

What attracts me to " The Book Thief" is the realism in the characters. Characters seem real because each one of them expresses feelings, attitude, and thoughts. Characters seem to be 3D because thee full of personality and life. Characters at the begin of the book seem boring but later on they get interesting by the things they do and who they become as they grow up. While the characters are growing up they steal things like food and books, as a child I can relate to stealing food.

The setting in "The Book Thief" is very realistic and historical because it takes place in Nazi Germany. I think that the setting does influence characters do to things they would of never done. One of things is steal books from the Mayors library and to hide Jews from the Nazis. Markus does a good job explaining the setting. For example, ocean sky, with whitecap clouds.

I don't think that "The Book Thief" affected me in any way. It didn't affect me because the story takes place along time ago and it's just history. Although, my thoughts on "The Book Thief are that it is a good book to read for a high schooler because the style of writing is very different from other books, and it's what makes the book interesting every moment. The only problem I have is that it is way to long for a high schooler to read because with the limit time high schoolers have it could take a long time to finish. "The Book Thief" and I can not relate because the book is mostly about a little girl reading books and I dislike books. Over all, I recommend this book to be read by high school students.
