The Young Girl And A Sad Life

The book thief is a very engaging and interesting book about a young girl who lives in a fictional town in Nazi Germany. Some may disagree that this is a perfectly appropriate book to read freshman year of high school. While it is very appropriate to read your 9th grade year it should not be required but highly suggested to read.

One reason the book thief should be highly suggested to read is because it is an extremely compelling story. Many people will probably like to read the book. It will keep you engaged and surprised. For example I was not expecting everyone she has ever known to die at they end  or a Jewish man to show up at the Hubermans door. It was interesting watching the young Liesel Meminger grow from a little girl to a young Woman. Many would agree that they would read it again and still be engaged the entire time. I personally loved the story and was constantly surprised despite the authors unique writing style in which he would usually reveal the most surprising details before you reached them. My daily life was not affected in all honesty and I really don't relate but I was greatly affected as a reader. I now read books expecting the up most gruesome and saddening details.

Another reason the book thief should be highly suggested is because the characters are lovable and relatable. One character named Liesel is extremely lovable and relatable. She for the most part is a very adorable girl who tends to entertain. Her brother and mother were killed when she was really young. She was then given to a couple named Rosa and Hans Hubermann. At first she was very skeptical but she soon learns to love her new family. Another large character in the book is Rudy Steiner. This character is Liesel's best friend during the book along with a very obvious love for Liesel. Finally there is Max Vandenberg. Max is a Jew who lisle land her new parents harbor and lisle grows to love. At one point Max even rights lisle a book.

The final reason this should be a suggested  book and not required is because its extremely long. There isn't much time in the year to read it. it will greatly improve reading levels though. overall I find no way summarize this book to a level equal to such the novel is written.
