The book thief written by Markus Zusak is a book I do and do not recommend for high school students for various reasons. It was during the age of Nazi Germany and a girl named Liesel Meminger was sent to another family after her baby brother dies. She was sent to Mr and Mrs Hubeherman were she admired her papa for his wisdom and kindness for her.

The major theme for this book is the power of the words. When Liesel was in the basement with Max he asked Liesel if she could tell him how the weather was outside today and Liesel said it was sunny and max said no use your own words and she described with imagery. That's how the book major theme is the power of the words.

The setting takes place in Germany during world war two and it sets a big role in the book because it makes everything more interesting and sets the imagery and everything else fall right into place. The author describes the setting very well because it all falls right into place with were it take place and how he uses imagery with the surroundings of the setting.

This book did not affect me at all but it was a very good book and I recommend you read it until the end. As I read farther into the book my thoughts did change because, at first it was really boring and dull to read, but as I got more and more into the book it became more interesting to read.

Overall I do recommend this book because its a great book but I don't recommend it because it is very time consuming and will take you a while to read it.

A Book Worth Stealing

I highly recommend the Book Thief, it's one of the greatest books I've read so far. From a 1-5 scale I give this amazing book at solid bold 5. This book is full of so many features that you cant get in some books. This book sucks you into it and wont allow you to do anything else but read.

The Book Thief is wonderful at its magnificent plot. The plot is just amazing with secrets, back story's, and its wonderful characters. Something unexpected is always happening makes the book explode with excitement. Zuskaks way of words explaining what's happening makes you feel like as if you are witnessing all the events he is writing about, It would be a shame to just walk right past this book.

This book has such amazing realistic characters that you get to know about in this story. If you read the book, you'll know more about Liesel than anybody else. She has the most in her back story and shes the only one that lives in the end. Max gives up everything, including his family to survive with Liesel. Everybody thinks Rudy as a joke. Hans was in war before and there's just so much with all the characters.

The setting of this story is a really good one. WWII one of the most important dates in history. The setting makes everything perfect and is really fitting. WWII enhances the story by a ton, it makes everything more interesting and perfects it. The bombings, the struggle to pay, and just everything else.

Overall i think this is a really good book and I highly recommend it to anybody whos looking to read a good book.

Why?? The book Thief is a good book

When i read a book, I want a book that shows emotion and also keeps me interested. The book " The Book Thief " is the perfect book that does both. Not only do these characters in this seem real, but they make you believe that they are actual people. This book makes you believe that this stuff actually happened. Also in this book I think that the author is trying to show a different perspective about what happened during World War 2.

Liesel Meminger is a young teen who in Germany. This is the time of when World War 2 is occurring. She is a young girl who was taken in by a family called the hubbermans. This book always showing how the characters are always doing something that you would think is crazy or Really boring. That's what's good about this books characters.

This book has a lot of figurative language in it while your reading.  You will also find a lot of setting shifts while reading if your pay attention to that.  The author basically made this book in order show a different perspective of what happened during World War 2.

So over all books, I would read this one the most just because it is a good book to read and it keeps me interested every time I read it.

The loner girl

The Book thief is a we'll write book because for many reason's. I would recommend this book to people who love the World War 2 era and to and to the people who would like to see the other side of the World War 2 in the German's eyes.

the book thief is a well write book because of the language that is used by Marcus Zusack. One reason why the language is that he uses a lot of creative language in this book. An example is "There were the erased pages of mein kampf, gagging , suffocating under the paint as they turned. He also has a very good structure based writing. An other example is "The man was positively mugged and beaten to a glass-shattering pulp.". This is how the language in the book thief was why it was well written.

Another reason why the book thief was a well written book was the narrator. The narrator in this book was death himself. He would explain how he would take the soul of the people who died. Also he would explain the color of the sky when he saw Liesel the three times. He even said he was haunted by people. This is how the narrator makes the book thief a good book.

Yet another reason why the book thief is a good book is the  character change that goes on in this book. The character change in this book happens to Rosa and Liesel they both did something that you would never believe what they do. Rosa changed by telling Liesel that Max had awakened and Rosa was not yelling at Liesel or calling her a pig. Also Liesel changed when the bombing happened on Himmel street by telling Rudy she loved him after the bombing when Rudy died. This is why the character change in the book thief made this a really good book.

These are the reason that made this book so good and this book will make you love it.

It's A Steal

In the world of  "The Book Thief" words are big part of power. The title is self explanatory, the main character falls deeply in love with words , that she risks stealing books. This novel is definitely appropriate for high school students, especially if studying 'World War II'. This novel gives a vivid picture of what was going on in those times.

Liesel Memiger was on a destination to live with her new parents, Rosa and Hans Hubermann  in Molching, Germany after being given up by her mother when Liesel's brother Werner dies on the train to the destination. Liesel experiences nightmares and Hans so kindly comforts her. Hans teaches Liesel how to read when she steals her first book at a cemetery where her brother is buried "The Gravediggers Handbook". In the novel, death himself is the narrator. He identifies the book thief (Liesel) and as he progresses through the novel he provides glimpses of the future without giving it away.

Markus Zusak bring the characters to life by using vivid language to describe them in conclusion giving emotions for each character. For instance, Rosa Hubermann, Liesel's forster mom has a very strong personality. Rosa seems like she is cold hearted, but she surprisingly has one on the biggest hearts in the novel. Hans Hubermann is comforting in Leisels eyes. He teaches Leisel how to read and also backs her up when Rosa is being hard on her. Leisel and Hans become very close in the novel. Max Vandenburg is a Jew that Hans and his family keep hidden. Max is caring and selfless , Max and Leisel gain a very good friendship Leisel considers Max her family. throughout the novel. Rudy Steiner is Leisel's friend he is adventurous and tough. Rudy has stood up for Leisel several times. Each and every character is brought to live by the very vivid language that Markus uses.

The majority of the story takes place in a fictional town of Molching, Germany on 33 Himmel Street. The novel last through 1939 and 1943. The setting seems dark, caused by the violence that is contained in the novel. The setting is beautifully described and this is incredibly important because it helps to visualize the setting.

I had different thoughts about the story. It is a bit intense but thankfully has comedic relief. Markus slowly builds the story, in the begging I had an urge to give up on the book but it was all worth it. I was amazed by the style that Markus used to write the story. The book grew on me from its emotional  effect. I definitely enjoyed reading this novel.

In conclusion "The Book Thief" is one of the best books I have read and I honestly dislike reading. The characters, setting and my reaction have and importance to the book. Leisel has understood how powerful words can be , words had a huge affect on Liesel. Therefore, the previous writing is why I would recommend the book to a high school student without a doubt.

The book thief

I would recommend the book thiefe not only for the story being told in the book but for the things it can help you understand such as imagery, characteristics, and and settings.the book thiefe has many intresting things that many people are intrested in such as drama  and surprise. Again I'd recommended the book thief for it's many intresting thing to share.

The book thief shows so many signs of imagery you can just imagine the book wall reading. Many pieces of imagery are explained and told in such a way you get more then just the normal picture you'll get the full image. The characters are explained with such a choice of imagery you can see the actual face of the person in the book. Setting is very much less explained with imagery it is giving the same things of imagery but just not in much more detail. imagery is given through other way death sees the sky when he picked up those three body's he seen red, black and white such as a simile for the notzi flag.

Characters are given such an imegry it is very possible they are an image in you head. The characters can either be nice or mean such as anybody today but in the end no one is mean everyone just dies.as liesle journeys on she encounters many people and has very different feeling towards them all. There are 5 main characters and they are liesle, Hans, rosa, max and Rudy , all expect liesle served a big part in liesle and her adventures life  these people are the people liesle loved.

With out a setting the story is kinda pointless because then you won't understand why things are happening but in the book thieves case the settings were very much very much told and in a good way mot to tippacle not to extreme . The setting is very Important to the book thief because most places have a disaster happen and the disaster is always explained to the point of almost every detail and it gives a very vivid image of the place everything is happening. The setting also sets a tone of mood at times such as if it's dark it might be sad and if lighten up by the sun a good day you must pay attention to setting a lot because if not you'll get very confused.

There for I would recommended the book thief to be taught to a ninth grade class or higher because of the many things it can teach you so much.

Book thievery

Upon arrival on 33 Himmel street Liesal Meminger's life would change forever. She would no longer have her mother or her brother by her side. She will only have Hans and Rosa Hubberman. Along the way, a man named Max too. There is soccer playing, falling in love, and book stealing.

The characters in The Book Thief seem to come to life. They seem real and allow you to relate to the situation their in. There is someone you can relate to in the book. You can always relate to something in the story. Marcus Zusak perfectly captures Liesal's teenage attitude. Everyone knows what it's like to be that teenager. Joining Liesal in here time on Himmel street is her best friend Rudy Steiner. Through out the story Rudy does everything he can to get Liesal to kiss him. All of the character bring the book to life. And Zusak's words make the characters even more realistic because he describes the characters perfectly and makes you fall in love with them.

The setting is set during world war 2. Molching, Germany is the exact place where Himmel Street  is located. And that is where Liesal  meets her new foster parents Rosa and Hans Hubberman. The setting of the story plays a major role in the story. Without this specific setting, the events in the book wouldn't be as important. This setting makes to book even better because its makes the book come to life. This setting is what makes the book because world war 2 is when Hitler came to power. During his time ruling is when he took all the jews and too much power. Himmel street is where most of the events take place.

My reaction to the book is one of the main reasons why i reccomend it. The book may start off slow and uninteresting but as the story continues it amazes me how great of a book it is. My thoughts rapidly changed through out the book. High schoolers should be required to read this. Its a great book and they can find it really interesting.

Code Talker essay

I do recommend the book "Code Talker". It describes the characters really well. The setting affects Ned because it shows the places he is in for World War Two. The plot is an Indian boy trying to adapt to a white society. The book "Code Talker" is a very interesting book.
One reason why I'd recommend the book "Code Talker" is because it describes the characters really good. For example, it says when and why the Navajos change differently. In my option I think the description of a character helps you understand the story better. In addition, the author said the Navajos had to cut almost all their hair off. This shows had to adapt to the white culture. Furthermore, it says Navajos names where changed. This helps to understand the book because it gives reasons why they changed their names. The characters in "Code Talker" are very well described.
Another reason why I'd recommend the book "Code Talker" is because it tells you about every setting. For example, it says when the Navajos move. This helps to understand the the reasons why they are doing stuff. In addition, the setting affects Ned a lot. It affects Ned a lot because Ned goes to a lot of places. Furthermore, the book tells us about how everyone adapts to the white culture they are in. To me a character adapting to a culture is very important. The book "Code Talker" describes the setting good.
Yet another reason why I'd recommend the book "Code Talker" is because there is a lot of interesting plots. For example, all the Navajos must change. The Navajos had no choice but to cut their hair, change their names, and more. This event is very important because no one is the same any more. In addition, Navajos could of picked what age they want to be. They where able to do this because no one had proof of date of birth. Furthermore, Ned wanted to be in the army but he was one year to young. Ned was able to lie about his age to go to war. The plot is the most important part of a book; and in "Code Talker" the plots are very interesting.
"Code Talker" is a very good book. The book describes everything very well. "Code Talker" is one of the best songs I read so far. It is a very interesting book with great plots and events. I recommend the book "Code Talker" because it is a great book.

The Book Thief

I do Recommend the book "The Book Thief" to Adults, but not to Any high school class. The reason why I recommend this book is because, it is simply a good book and great for any reader to visualize how times were in Germany back in WWII, also the Characters in the book are cool. But, One reason why I do not recommend this book to high school classes or students are because it is too long.

One Reason why I recommend the book, "The Book Thief" is because it is a very good book, and great for readers to visualize how times were in Nazi Germany during WWII ( World War Two ) . The book  is based on a family in Nazi Germany that shows how hard times were living during that time. Also on all the bombings happening because they were in the middle of a war.

Another reason why I recommend this book because the characters. The Characters names in this book are , Leisal Meminger, Papa, Mama, Rudy Steiner, and Max the Jew ( that the family offered a home to ) . Papa took in the Jew that left his mother and put him in the basement. Until, he got so type of sickness and had to sleep in Leisal's bed until he got better. Rudy is Leisals best friend and Leisal is the main character , the little girl.

One reason why I do not recommend this book to any high school class is because, it is very long and not very easy for students to understand as good as Adults might. Also , this book took almost half of the school year and we couldn't read any other book for the year. Even though it is a very good book, it's not very good for any high school class.

Those are the reasons why I believe this book is a good recommendation to adults but not to high school students.
The Book Thief
A book about a girl who is just trying to find her way in life.
By: Markus Zusak
Historical fiction

How does the setting affect how the book turns out?
The Book Thief is a book about a girl that is having a hard life and gets adopted. They live in a town called Molching. The town is described as being a small town without much to do. This town is where Liesel meets most of her friends and she also likes to go down by the lake with  papa they read books and papa plays his accordion.
It seams that the setting of the book affects how much of ww2 that Liesel experiences and how it affects her family.

I think the author wrote about a little girls experience on world war 11 because a child's experience can be different from an adults. I believe the author wrote on this subject because it was very easy to think of ideas on what could happen. This books genre was historical fiction the elements this book has is the nazis in the book would do things that the real nazis would do, and the reactions of people toward the Jews are what they would actually say. The intended audience is most likely young adults because it teaches about the struggles that a family would go through and what would happen to the Jews and there supporters.that is what I think the authors purpose of writing on this subject was.

The way the book affected me was it made me think about the struggles a family of Jews or a family harboring a Jew would have to go through. My thoughts about the book changed as I saw how the nazis treated everyone especially the Jews. I also got more interested in. How the other families and people thought about Liesels family. The book is related to my life in a way like my cousin has a pit
bull and he isn't aloud to let her roam about its like having a Jew in your house.that is the way the book has affected me.

I recommend this book to anybody who is interested in reading about a little girls thoughts about WWII and what would happen to the Jews and the people that

This blog is my thoughts on the book "The Book Thief."
